The new science minister, Stefan Vodenicharov has announced the new executive board for the National Science Fund. The order is signed today, February 19. The board members, along with their affiliation, are the following:
Prof. Anna-Maria Kostova Totomanova (Sofia University, philologist, head of the department of Studies of Cyril and Methodius)
Prof. Venelin Georgiev Enchev (Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, BAS)
Dr. Vladimir Ivanov Kostov (University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia)
Prof. Ivan Georgiev Mitov (Institute of Catalysis, BAS)
Dr. Margarit Nikolov Ganev (PhD in International Law, member of the court at the Hague)
Prof. Nikolay Marinov Nikolov (Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, BAS)
Prof. Plamen Dimitrov Mishev (University of National and World Economy, Sofia)
Prof. Svetla Simeonova Ruseva (Institute of Soil Science, Agricultural Academy)
Aleksandra Georgieva Dimitrova (representative of the Ministy of Finance)
Following the first meeting of the board, Prof. Plamen Mishev (pictured above) was elected as a board president. Prof. Totomanova was elected vice-president. I came across an interview with Prof. Mishev from a couple of weeks ago which includes the following short biography for him:
Born in 1953 in Pazardjik. Studied at the English High School in Plovdiv. Graduated with a major in Agricultural Economics at what is now the University of National and World Economy, Sofia. He became a professor of economics in 2003. He is a former vice-provost of the University of National and World Economy. Currently he is the head of the Economy of the Natural Resources Department there. He is an expert with the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
